Texture

I chose this photo because the it shows texture very well. You can clearly see each petal and almost imagine how it would feel to touch it. I think this is a successful photo because of the colors. The greenish blue background makes the pink flowers stand out against it. It looks like a very friendly and inviting photo, which makes me want to be there to see and feel them in person.

How Photography Connects Us

Photography is a fun way to see the world and help others see it through your eyes. But taking cool pictures of sunsets or skies isn’t showing how impactful photography really can be. David Griffin shows us in this TED Talk how much of an impact on the world that photography can really have. There are photographers all over the world who try their best to take photos they like. Taking photos of things people like to look at is one thing, but it can also tell a story and change the world.

David shows us photos that people have taken to show the circumstances and ways other people have to live. It is able to show people from the outside what others really have to do to survive and how hard it is for some people. In some ways, it makes us feel bad for them. In others, it helps us to feel more grateful for what we have here and maybe even be inspired to help them. It can tell stories of people, or even animals and how much they really need help from us. Some photos he showed us told us abut how much animals really need to be protected in certain areas of the world, and everywhere else.

Photography doesn’t always have to be serious or sad to touch peoples’ hearts, but they definitely can be powerful when they do. But there are also plenty of photographs people can take to show the wonders of the world and what we can go out there to see. It can show how the world works and help us see past what we may believe is true, like the leopard seal shown in the TED Talk.

I chose these images because nature is one of the most calming things to me. I could spend hours just sitting and watching sunsets(if they lasted that long), or sitting under the stars. I love how quiet and peaceful just sitting outside alone is. It is a great way for me to recharge if I’m feeling stressed or unhappy. Just taking some time in nature always makes me feel better, and helps me to appreciate God’s creations made just for us. These pictures depict this very well. The colors of the sunset I chose are my favorite colors to be in a sunset. I love the stars, and the fact there are colors added in like the sunset I chose. I enjoy looking at the mirror of the “Lost World” photo and trying to figure out how they did it. The green in the last photo is amazing, especially while incorporating the gray clouds and blue mountains.

I love this photo because it shows my favorite season turning into the beauty of winter. I have always loved nature and especially the mountains.
